Description of Classes

INFANT/TODDLER:  Ages 10 months – 3 years with no swimming skills.  Parent or guardian participation REQUIRED.

Skills taught:  basic survival swimming and safety skills


TODDLER/PARENT:  Ages 2 1/2 through 4 – Session A ONLY – Why this new class?  Last summer, many of our toddlers had the skills to move onto the next level class, but weren’t ready to be without their parents.  Hopefully, this will allow these children to continue with their skills progression later in the summer.


PRE-BEGINNER:  Minimum age of 3 with no swimming skills.  Parent participation encouraged on Show Day only.


BEGINNER I/II:  Limited swimming skills, can not swim across the pool with proper form.

Skills taught:  jumping in, front and back float, freestyle with face in the water, rolling in from pool deck.


BEGINNER III/ADVANCED BEGINNER:  Has swimming skills but does not feel comfortable in deep water.


ADVANCED BEGINNER:  A child can swim the length of the pool (40 feet), must be comfortable in deep water.

Skills taught:  freestyle with proper side breathing, elementary backstroke, treading water, survival float.


INTERMEDIATE/SWIMMER:  Improve on techniques and endurance.

Skills taught:  sidestroke, backstroke, breaststroke, competition turns, advanced survival skills using clothes.


PRIVATE LESSONS:  Any skill level child/adult.
